Incidentally, I used the 'trip estimator' on the Memphis Yellow Cab website, and from the Airport to Harrah's (the closest casino) it was 63 dollars one way. All gambling machines were open and card games had alot of players at tables.
Place was clean, food and room was great. Due to the distance and rural location of the Tunica's - this 'shuttle' industry has developed. Just got home from trip to horseshoe in Tunica. Go west on Hwy 302 (Goodman Rd ) to Hwy 61 South. Compared to NYC, you could almost say Memphis doesn't have cabs. Take I-20 West to Birmingham, AL. The cab situation in Memphis is NOTHING like NYC. They're not little tour buses carrying people. You schedule a pickup time, you don't have to wait for them to come around for the scheduled stops. Most, if not all are in private vehicles ( cars/vans/suvs) that are for private parties. The 'shuttle' name is a bit of a misnomer - it's basically a cab that specifically goes from the airport to Tunica. A cab is going to be much more expensive than one of these shuttles and most likely significantly longer since most cab drivers don't like to make the trip so they're not familiar with it. I'm sure you could probably find one that would take you to Tunica, however it's approximately 30 miles from the airport to Tunica.
